Friday, August 31, 2001: Star Trek's chief engineer, Mr. Scott, spoke on the morning of the first day of con: he was literally one of the first panelists. I wish I could've gotten a better picture, but we were way in the back. The room was packed for what could only be described as an affectionate and tender goodbye from long-time Trekkies to the gentle and kindly actor who portrayed the role for so many years. Rumor has it that he is retiring from the con scene, and that this was his final DragonCon appearance.

Friday, August 31, 2001: He's probably best known for his role as the man behind Darth Vader's mask in Star Wars, but he was also a colleague of British writer Douglas Adams. Here, he remembers the Hitchhiker's author's life and work during a panel in the British programming track.

Sunday, September 2, 2001: Star Wars' C3P0 is one of the only original cast members to have appeared in all of the movies so far. Here, he acts as Master of Ceremonies for the 2001 Masquerade.

Sunday, September 2, 2001: Daniels remains one of my all-time favorite celebrities to ever appear at DragonCon. He's utterly charming, utterly poised, and has a keen wit that he skillfully applies to the sometimes-bizarre aspects of the con.

Sunday, September 2, 2001: Yes, he gets three pictures. This one was obviously taken of him on screen, while the others were not. However, this was the only clear picture that I could get of him facing the camera.

Monday, September 3, 2001: He has appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Sliders, and most recently portrayed Gimli in the soon-to-be-released Lord of the Rings. He was very gracious about accomodating fans, and even did a spontaneous improvisation in Dwarvish. I look forward to seeing him in his latest role.

Monday, September 3, 2001: The man had to be tired after guest-starring in the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company's production of Terry Pratchett's "Guards! Guards!" However, contrary to appearances, he's not dozing off in this shot from his panel in the Tolkien track. :)
