DragonCon 2001: Costumes

Netherworld creature
Netherworld
Friday, August 31, 2001: Netherworld is a haunted house done each year by professional costumers and special effects artists in the Atlanta area. Each year, they promote the Halloween event by appearing at DragonCon, and their work is always excellent. You can't tell from this picture, but the creature's eyes were glowing. They also work with charities like RAIN to help with their fund-raising efforts, which I think is very commendable.

Star Wars wookiee and twi'lek
Wookiee and Twi'lek
Sunday, September 2, 2001: Star Wars wookiee and twi'lek, or so my husband, master of SW trivia, tells me. :)

Jareth
Labyrinth's Jareth
Sunday, September 2, 2001: This was definitely one of the best costumes I saw at the 2001 con. The gentleman wearing it was very gracious, and I think he might have really been British. If not, he did an exceptionally good job with the accent. He really had the poise of the part. My only regret is that I didn't get a vertical shot here so that you could see more of his costume. I just wish that he'd participated in the Masquerade so that more people could have seen it: the detail he put into the outfit was quite impressive.

Farscape's Scorpius
Farscape's villain, Scorpius
Sunday, September 2, 2001: This guy participated in the Masquerade. Great costume. Actually, there were a lot of really good costumes in this year's Masquerade. I wish I had gotten a picture of the blue meanies, winners of the Master Class Best in Show. They were clearly made by professionals, and they were fantastic.

Chiana, Crais, Crichton and Aeryn Sun

Crais, Crichton, and Aeryn Sun
Sunday, September 2, 2001: As always, the lobby of the Hyatt on the night of the Masquerade is one of the best places to see great costumes.
